Key Experience
Real Estate Developer & Specialty Contractors: As an independent CFO and systems implementation consultant, Mike has supported a $100 million real estate developer, a $160 million electrical contractor, and a $350 million fire sprinkler contractor. His engagements have included Sage Intacct implementation and post-launch support, financial statement analysis, audit and review preparation, staffing assessments, cash flow analysis, and work-in-progress reporting.
Communications & Security Infrastructure Contractor: As Chief Financial Officer, Mike led finance, accounting, HR, safety, IT, treasury, risk management, contract administration, fleet, and facilities during a period when revenue grew from $10 million to $105 million. He managed five leaders and a total administrative staff of 22 as the business expanded across five operating divisions and three Texas locations. Mike led an Acumatica construction ERP implementation, strengthened purchasing and asset management controls, and oversaw financial reporting for the operating company and six additional entities. He also helped identify a new headquarters location and negotiated an economic incentive package with local officials.
Electrical, Security & Facility Services Provider: As Chief Financial Officer of a business serving customers across North and South America, Mike led accounting, finance, HR, treasury, risk management, and central dispatch operations. He renegotiated rates with major customers to improve profit margins and shortened the financial close from more than 20 days to the fifth business day.
Construction & Mortgage Software Businesses: Through interim leadership and consulting engagements, Mike served as Controller for a $100 million electrical contractor and provided financial consulting for a $150 million plumbing and site utilities contractor. He prepared accounting records for audit and addressed material weaknesses in internal controls. For a $50 million mortgage lending software provider, he completed an accounting system conversion and supported financial operations through an acquisition. As CFO/COO of a $35 million cellular tower contractor, he introduced accrual and work-in-progress accounting, improved financial and operating processes, and assisted with selecting a permanent Controller.
Commercial & Multifamily General Contractors: As Corporate Controller for construction businesses with approximately $200 million in annual revenue, Mike led a conversion to Viewpoint construction software and introduced work-in-progress schedules and forecasting tools. He also implemented a master service agreement and work order system to strengthen subcontractor risk transfer while helping manage the businesses through the financial crisis.
